Overview

A complex energy system, made simple.

Element 16 delivers emissions-free industrial process heat by storing low-cost grid and renewable electricity as thermal energy in sulfur. I designed and built the full website in Framer, from the home page and technology to solutions, about, news and article pages, turning a complex energy system into a clear, confident story for plant operators.

The challenge

What needed to change.

Parker Wells, Element 16's founder and CEO, came to me with a smart idea that was hard to explain. The team had put a lot of effort into a presentation, but it was still far from friendly to anyone outside their industry. Their website was flat and said little, and it needed to show a company that is busy and doing well.

What I did

  1. 01

    One animation that explains it

I worked through a few ideas with the team until we landed on a very simple animation, approved by them, that shows the whole system at a glance, from grid and renewable power to sulfur storage to process heat.

  2. 02

    A complete, credible site

The animation was only one piece. I designed technology, solutions, applications, about, news and article pages, with the leadership team, milestones and project news, so the site shows how much is going on.

  3. 03

    Clear for plant operators

Every page leads with the operator's problem, costly and volatile heat, before the technology, and every layout was designed for tablet and mobile too.
